Ginneh Flamer is an Exam Developer in the Test Development Department at the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). After earning her PhD in Spanish Literature from Temple University, she transitioned into the assessment industry, where she has worked for nearly 20 years. Throughout her career in test development, Ginneh has contributed to a broad range of assessment initiatives, including formative and summative assessments, free-response and multiple-choice item development, standard-setting studies, test preparation publications, scoring session supervision, client management, and subject matter expert (SME) management. In her current role at ABIM, Ginneh develops the Nephrology and Transplant Hepatology examinations. Managing the SMEs who contribute to these examinations is a dynamic and essential component of her responsibilities. Over time, she has developed a range of strategies for effectively engaging and collaborating with these valued professionals. Ginneh is pleased to share her approaches to SME management, along with key lessons learned throughout her experience, with session attendees.
