Self-Discovery Maps: A Psychology-Informed, AI-Enhanced Alternative to Tests and Checklists
Speakers
Description
Self-Discovery Maps (SDMs) represent a powerful, AI-enhanced alternative to traditional psychological tests and basic checklists. Designed for reflection—not diagnosis—they empower users to explore values, mindsets, and growth areas through structured prompts, visual metaphors, and narrative insights. SDMs are not tests as defined by APA, SIOP, or ATP, but they may soon compete with them in reach and relevance. This session introduces SDMs as a new category of self-assessment, explores their ethical and legal positioning, and highlights the need for ATP to develop model guidelines for their responsible use. As AI accelerates personalization and accessibility, SDMs offer a psychologically informed, emotionally safe, and future-ready approach to self-insight and leadership development. Participants will leave with a clear understanding of how to innovate in this emerging space—ethically, strategically, and at scale.
