Ray Nicosia, MA, is Vice President, Exam Integrity, at Cornerstone Strategies. He is the longest tenured test security professional in the industry, with more than three decades of unparalleled assessment experience. During his distinguished career, Ray has managed exam security at 25,000 test centers in 192 countries, including both paper-based and computer-based testing. He has provided critical exam security expertise and programs to prevent and detect fraud and test misconduct. He and his teams annually investigated and responded to tens of thousands security incidents from around the globe. His experience extends across a wide range of educational and assessment programs - from teacher, medical, and employment certification to English language assessments used for visa purposes, academic admissions, and placements.
Ray’s investigations have resulted in actions taken by federal and local law enforcement agencies, criminal prosecutions, and successful civil litigation. He has testified in court internationally and domestically as well as before legislative committees. He has overseen thousands of test center audits in all 50 states and more than 100 countries and has personally audited more than 700 test centers, helping to ensure high-quality and secure exam results for clients around the world.
Prior to joining Cornerstone, Ray served for nearly 37 years at Educational Testing Service. His responsibilities at ETS included researching, establishing, and coordinating exam security policies, overseeing on-site and virtual investigations, and secure vendor selection process and compliance. He was an integral part of the ETS team that launched the first high-stakes exams with remote delivery in March, 2020.
As a trusted expert, Ray is frequently quoted by the media as an expert in academic integrity issues and asked to present on exam security matters at conferences throughout the USA and on five other continents. In testament to his leadership and contributions to the industry, Ray was the winner of the 2025 Association of Test Publisher’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Prior to joining ETS, he worked in communications for a TV station and professional boxing after beginning his career as a reporter.
Ray holds a master’s degree in Business and Organizational Security Management from Webster University, and a B.A. from William Paterson University.
