Marc Kroopnick, Ph.D., M.B.A., M.Eng.
Marc Kroopnick is the Director of Test Development and Psychometrics for Medical School Admissions Testing at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). He brings nearly two decades of experience in high-stakes admissions testing to this role, where he oversees item writing, form assembly, test publishing, equating, and scoring for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT®) and the Professional Readiness Exam (PREview®). Marc is also a recognized thought leader in the application of artificial intelligence across the exam development lifecycle, with a focus on evaluating tradeoffs among defensibility, efficiency, and transparency to enhance both quality and operational impact.
During his tenure at AAMC, Marc led the implementation of a major design and content revision to the MCAT exam and served as a senior advisor on multiple validity studies, as well as the initial development of the PREview® exam. His research interests focus on applying measurement theory to operational and applied challenges in education.
Marc holds a Ph.D. in Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation from the University of Maryland, College Park; an M.B.A. from the Louisiana State University at Shreveport; an M.Eng. in Operations Research and Statistics from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; and a B.S. in Mathematics from Muhlenberg College.
