Donald A. Balasa, JD, MBA, is the CEO and Legal Counsel of the American Association of Medical Assistants in Chicago. His areas of legal specialization include professional/occupational credentialing and regulation, testing accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the impact of the Trump Administration’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) pronouncements on testing bodies and schools, and antitrust principles applicable to certifying and academic accrediting bodies.

Balasa received both his baccalaureate and law degrees from Northwestern University and his MBA in economics from the University of Chicago. Balasa has taught association management at the DePaul University Graduate School of Business and constitutional law at Trinity International University.
