Natasha Kaan is the Program Manager for the Mathematics Proficiency Test (MPT) at the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) in Ontario, Canada. In this role, she leads the strategic development, administration, and evaluation of the MPT—an essential certification requirement for aspiring teachers in Ontario. Her work ensures that the test maintains rigorous standards and supports the province’s commitment to excellence in education.

With over two decades of experience across the education sector—including roles as a math/computer science/student success teacher in the York Region District School Board, education officer at the Ontario Ministry of Education, and now a leader at EQAO—Natasha brings expertise in assessment design, policy implementation, and engagement with interested parties. Her leadership is instrumental in upholding the integrity and fairness of the MPT, ensuring that teacher candidates demonstrate the mathematical and pedagogical competencies needed to foster student success.

Throughout her career, Natasha has been a passionate advocate for equity, innovation, and improved educational outcomes. She works collaboratively with educators, government partners, and regulatory bodies to advance initiatives that support high-quality teaching and learning across Ontario’s classrooms.
