Matthew M. Gushta, Ph.D., is Senior Director of Research and Psychometric Services at MetaMetrics, where he leads applied research and operational psychometrics supporting large-scale assessment programs and edtech products. He oversees Lexile and Quantile linking studies, validation research, and technical documentation to support assessment and measurement use and interpretation across state and district assessments.
Previously, Dr. Gushta served as Vice President of Research & Analytics at Cognia, where he led measurement, research design, and data science initiatives for assessment and school improvement products. He also held senior leadership and psychometric roles at Measured Progress, Amplify, and the American Institutes for Research, contributing to statewide accountability systems, standard setting for more than 50 state assessments, large-scale equating and calibration, and formative and diagnostic assessment design.
Dr. Gushta earned his Ph.D. in Educational Measurement and Statistics from the University of Maryland, College Park, and holds M.Ed. and B.A. degrees from the University of Alberta. He has more than 20 years of experience in educational measurement, applied psychometrics, and research leadership.
