Dr. Gwendydd Caudwell leads the Assessment Services team at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, where she oversees the development and quality assurance of test content and marking for English language assessments, young learner exams, and teaching qualifications.
Since joining Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Gwen has held several leadership roles, including managing bespoke high-stakes assessments for university admissions and delivering assessment and teaching solutions for Ministries of Education around the world. She has also spent over 15 years with the British Council, working as a teacher and teacher trainer across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Her interest in assessment deepened during this period, leading her to complete an MA in Language Testing at Lancaster University in 2012 and she later led the British Council’s test development portfolio.
In 2023, she earned her PhD from the Centre for Research into Language Learning and Assessment (CRELLA), focusing on the spoken production of young learners aged 13–15. She is a regular speaker at international conferences and co-authored the book Assessing the Language of Young Learners with Dr. Angela Hasselgreen.
