Clay has been with Student Disability Services at UCSF since 2017. He oversees the school of nursing and dentistry, as well as assistive technology needs for the entire campus's student population. He is a student-focused advisor and assistive-tech user, with expertise in putting immediately deployable solutions into the hands of students.
Since 2006, Clay has worked in student disability services across the spectrum of education, in K-12, community colleges, undergraduate, and graduate levels. He previously served in roles ranging from coordinator, associate director, to AT specialist in the California Community College system (MiraCosta College), the Cal State system (Cal State San Marcos), as well as at Northwestern University's main campus in Evanston, IL.
In 2012, he earned his master’s degree in education from San Diego State University, where he studied educational leadership, counseling, assistive technology, and the psycho-social aspects of disability. Clay is currently studying law with his sights toward a J.D. in 2029, with a focus on civil rights.
