April Petronella is an independent consultant who specializes in English Language Arts assessments in the K-12 space. She works with several different assessment companies and has experience in multiple facets of assessment development from content creation to item review. She holds an M.A. in history, an M.Ed. in early childhood education, and an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction as well as a certified diversity professional credential. She is passionate about advancing equity through culturally responsive assessment. Prior to her work in the assessment industry, she taught at the secondary and college level and owned and managed a supplemental education services franchise.
