Name
Public Health and Safety as a Core Assessment Design Principle
Description
Testing and certification programs espouse the ideals of public health and public safety across multiple industries. These programs often make claims that certification leads to improvements and enhancements in these critical areas. Yet, there is a limited amount of information on how these actual testing goals are translated into the overall testing program. Evidence to support these statements can be difficult to document and even more difficult to communicate with stakeholders. The shrouded nature of this information can lead to public skepticism and a lack of confidence in agencies that offer credentials for these specialized testing goals. This comes at a time when governmental agencies and policy makers are, in fact, demanding more evidence related to positive outcomes from certification organizations – especially in public health and public safety. This session will share a practical set of strategies for test publishers to consider.
